How often do I need to change the filter?
We recommend changing the filter every 3-4 weeks to ensure optimal performance and maintain the highest quality of water for your pets. Additionally, the filter life indicator on the Elfin Fountain will turn solid orange to remind you when it's time to change the filter.
How often do you recommend cleaning the Elfin Fountain?
We recommend cleaning the Elfin Fountain once a week. However, cleaning the Elfin Fountain is not like a chore. All you need to do is take the water tank away from the base, disassemble the parts (the water tray, the tank, the conduit, and the impeller), and rinse and scrub them to clean. It's as easy as a breath, and there's no pump to worry about!
Can I use the Elfin Fountain while keeping it plugged in?
Yes, you can. We provide both options: wired and wireless usage for the Elfin Fountain. For its wired use, we also feature a downward-facing charging port design to prevent any possibility of electricity leakage.
Can I directly wash it in the dishwasher?
No, we do not recommend washing the entire Elfin Fountain in the dishwasher. However, the water tray is made of stainless steel and is dishwasher safe. For the other parts, please disassemble them and wash by hand to ensure they remain in good condition.
What dispensing modes does Elfin Fountain have?
Elfin Fountain has two dispensing modes: Intelligent Mode and Timer Mode. Intelligent Mode is designed to attract pets to drink more when they pass by or have not drunk for a while. Timer Mode dispenses water at set intervals to meet regular hydration needs.
What is the Care Kit? Is it necessary?
No, it is not a necessity for regular maintenance. The Care Kit is an optional choice for pet parents wanting the best results. For routine care, simply rinse the water conduit and the impeller during each fountain cleaning.
Why do you call Elfin Fountain a pumpless fountain?
‘Pumpless’ in the context of our fountain refers to the elimination of a conventional submerged pump, which is a common source of noise and maintenance hassle in traditional pet fountains. Instead, we use a magnetically driven impeller. This innovative design simplifies cleaning, reduces noise, and enhances the safety of the water your pets drink. By rethinking the way water is circulated, we've managed to keep the benefits of a pump—like water movement and filtration—without the usual complications.

Finally I found a water fountain that can survive our naughty cat. Thanks to the design with clasps to hold the top, he can’t knock it open like multiple different models I tried before. Not only that, apparently our cat is addicted to it, drinking tons of water more than before with stationary water bowl, and whoever knows anything about cats knows kidney issues is a big problem, now addressed thanks to elfin fountain. Sleek design, easy to install and my cat loves it 😍 have yet to clean but seeing how easy it was to put together it should be so much easier than the last water fountain I bought for my cat (impossible) ❤️

Our cats think the packaging was 10/10, it was a lot of fun. They also really enjoy the fountain.
Overall it's a fantastic product that I'd highly recommend. I was looking for a cat fountain that was easy to completely clean (especially including the pumping mechanism), but the options out there are basically nonexistent. The elfin design is pretty awesome overall and it was the best option I could find.
I'm glad I got the spare pump pieces (the spinner and the housing), it makes it much easier to quickly wash/replace the fountain to refresh the cat water.
2 improvements I'd really like to see:
- Continuous mode. I keep mine plugged and I just want it to keep it running.
- A more durable spout.
More on the spout, which IMO is the weakest part of the deign: The spout piece is clear plastic, and my cats have occasionally pulled it off, bit it, and actually damaged it quite a bit. I've only had this fountain for 1 month, and if the spout breaks then the whole fountain will be rendered useless. I really, really, really hope my cats stop biting it, otherwise I'll need to come back here to alter my rating.

It's a brilliant design that promises to deliver water for years. Moving the pump mechanics outside of the fountain was a stroke of genius. Cleaning all of the parts that touch water is super-easy! It may be a little pricier than other pet-store fountains - but you won't end up having to buy several aquarium pumps just to keep it running.
My cats love this fountain. And I love how easy it is to clean. Don't have to hassle with bringing all the wires and extra pieces to the sink. Just the main bowl, easy wipe down of all the pieces with no stupid pump I can never easily open to clean. Only complaint is my four cats drink from here more than the other water bowl I have and I have to refill it every couple days! But at least I can easily see with that orange light when its empty.
